Black Girls Meet Up is about bringing Black women and girls together from all walks of life who are in search of sisterhood and support, and who want to be surrounded by other magical Black women. It is a space where we can simply be, where we can look across the room and not be the only Black face in the crowd, where we can be surrounded and lifted up by the spirit and energy of other Black women. Where magic is in the air, where bodies come in all shapes and sizes, where we can bask in our melanin, where our cultures and identities are not re-appropriated and reimagined by others. Where we reimagine ourselves. Where we are uplifted and renewed. Where we are inspired. Where we can feel and embrace our messiness. Where we can relax and love on ourselves and each other. Where we can fill ourselves up on what we need to make it through. Where self-care comes first.

Black women were created of brown sugar and warm honey. The sweetest thing to bless the earth. Be wary of anyone who tells you otherwise.”

“We, who had no designated safe havens where we could carry our vomit for other people to clean up for us — who were too urgently needed to afford to pause for occasional maintenance, too dignified to succumb to emotional fatigue — not for us the overpaid charlatans disguised as therapists, who would only poke at our scabs and suck our money. No. We, the unbreakable ones, we ourselves were all the therapy that we needed.”
